How to Exercise Your Cat Indoors

Your cat is safest indoors, but it can be tricky to exercise them inside. Luckily, your Indianapolis, IN vet is here to help! Read on to find out how to exercise your feline friend indoors.

Cat Towers

Cat towers or jungle gym structures are great for getting your cat moving, and your pet will most often play on them all by themselves. Many cat towers have built-in scratching posts, and they also provide cats with a high vantage point to survey their domain from. Pick one up at your local pet supply store.

There’s no substitute for good old-fashioned cat toys. Your cat will have hours of fun with them, and work up a sweat while doing so. Many cats like toys that mimic prey animals, like mice or birds. Ask your vet to recommend a good toy for your cat.

Laser Light

A laser light is another good option for getting your cat moving—many of our feline friends loving darting after the pesky red light and getting a good workout in the process. Just don’t shine the light directly in your cat’s eyes, as this could cause retinal damage.
